The pastures in the project area have become deserted due to drying springs and decreasing water levels in the rivers. Some pastures have been overgrazed due to the large number of herders living along the rivers banks. Plant diversity is also decreasing. Therefore, the project intends to protect the springheads of the streams that are still active.
