Sustainable land management (SLM) practices were implemented on 100 hectares. 50 Hectares of severely degraded land were restored and rehabilitated. 100 members of the community were enabled to demonstrate sustainable land and forest management practices. There is a 10% increase in crop, livestock production by trained farmers/herders of which 50 % are women leading to improved income, availability of food and nutritional status of community members as evidenced by: number of days of food shortage reducing by 50%; increased number of student/pupils regularly attending schools by 12%; increase in purchasing power by an average of $ US2 per day; and reduced spending on food purchases by 2%.

Enabling environment for joint SLM has been strengthened through: established and existing community administrative and management structures; an established framework for identifying threatened lands and criteria for identifying SLM practices as well as evaluating barriers to upscaling of best practices; and regular stakeholder meetings to discuss the developed methodological framework for identifying threatened lands, and choosing most adapted SLM practices.

400 Community members were empowered to participate in SLM through training and obtaining skills in; project monitoring and evaluation; entrepreneurship skills; and financial management, a third of whom are women.
