The sun's energy for “SOS-Children's Village Borovliany”
The project goal: Creating conditions and the introduction of alternative energy sources using solar energy in the educational institutions and custody of the Minsk area on the example of SOS-Children's Village Borovliany.
Project tasks:
1. The introduction of an autonomous photovoltaic power plant for electricity generation in the SOS-Children's Village Borovliany
2. Increase knowledge about the possibilities of alternative energy and energy saving skills through the organization of educational events.
3. Increase the capacity of the local community in alternative energy sources usage and climate change negative effects mitigation.
4. Dissemination of project?s experience on introduction renewable energy, use of solar energy at the local, national and international level.
Expected results
1. On the territory of the SOS- Children's Village Borovliany installed and successfully operating photovoltaic plant to generate electricity. The annual output of photovoltaic power plant will generate at least 21,000 kW × h/year and at least 9.79 tons CO2 emission reduction.
2. Saved significant funds will provide the opportunity to increase quality of services for orphans and children left without parental care. Annual income from the sale of electricity will be at least $ 9,282 a year.
3. Increased level of knowledge and skills and resource saving in the home as a result of complex educational activities for children, staff, SOS- Children's Village Borovliany, professional care institutions.
4. Increased awareness of the local community and professional education institutions of Minsk region on possibilities of using alternative energy sources (solar energy).
5. Disseminated information on the results of the project and the GEF activities on climate mitigation and the use of renewable energy sources at the local, national and international levels.
