At the Oblast level, the GEF/SGP cooperated with the administration of the Issyk-Kul oblast, informing the Governor and his team about the positive examples and lessons learned during the implementation of the initiative. The best experience of the project "COMDEKS" was offered as examples for wide distribution and incorporation into the development plans of the Issyk-Kul oblast, as well as in the strategic plan of development of the Biosphere territory "Issyk-Kul".

Planning gef grant
Dissemination of knowledge about the positive experience of the project "COMDEKS" was expedient to be carried out through the field offices of the UNDP in the KYRGYZ Republic, as well as with other international organizations. The GEF/SGP was also encouraged visits to exchange experience in Issyk-Kul oblast in the framework of the operational phase of the GEF-6.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
In general more then 20 presentations and small workshops about COMDEKS and Satoyama initiative were conducted in the local communities during field visits, where ICCAs took part and contributed to development of the portfolio.
Capacity - Building Component
More then 280 people were involved into the discussion and the development of the priorities of the COMDEKS Country Landscape Strategy and got training on development of the project proposals.
Project sustainability
Practical application of the indicators in the course of evaluation of their background condition of ecosystems was ensured by measuring the elements of sustainability of social-ecological production landscape on four related aspects, namely the protection of ecosystems and maintain biodiversity, agrobiodiversity; knowledge, learning and innovation; and social justice and infrastructure.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Public awarness was ensured via conduction of the project workshops in Balykchy town, Karakol town and Bishkek city. Each event had a section of work with mass media and press-conference.
Replication of project activities
The GEF/ SGP Office also acted to set up network of Yssyk-Kul Oblast NGOs that were involved in the process of dissemination of brochures, providing advice to the public, including farmers.
For replication and promotion of the experience of the project "COMDEKS" office of the GEF/SGP in the framework of the operational phase of the GEF-6 was organized educational seminars for communities and farmers of six regions of Kyrgyzstan (Chu, Talas, Naryn, Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken).
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The Strategy was developed with the involvement of all stakeholders, including local communities of Issyk-Kul oblast as well as business communities, governmental and public organizations. These stakholders had opportunity to share their views and opinions, contribute to choosing of the program's priorities, and suggest project proposals.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
The all results of this project were drawn in the form of a brochure describing the experience acquired, photos, measurements, etc.
At least 3 expert reports were produced (sociological, biodiversity and sustainable agriculture).
1 project leaflet was issued and widly distributed among the population of the Issyk-Kul province.
Notable Community Participation
Youth was one of the groups, involved into the project. Young scientists (expert on biodiversity and sociologist) took part in field visits to the potential project sites (on the stage of portfolio development).
