Strengthening Environmental Governance at Dibeen Forest Reserve Community
The main objective of the project is Strengthening the internal and external capacities of Civil Society organizations within Dibeen Protected Area, building their capacities to participate in an informed and skilled manner in environmental policy formulation and natural resource management, engage with governments, collaborate in decision-making on key issues related to Dibeen Reserve, and represent the interests of this community in environment and sustainable development discussions and debates.

The above objective will be achieved through initiating an alliance of active Civil Society organizations in the environmental fields within Dibeen Protected area, conduct a quick assessment of their capacities to detect gaps and weaknesses and how to build their capacities through intensive training to enable them to participate an informed and skilled manner in the environmental governance on one table with the government and relevant stakeholders (18 stakeholders; including directorate of Ajloun and Jarash, Environment Civil defense of Ajloun and jarash, Royal commission for environment protection/ policy ranger, etc) . Moreover, these organizations will be trained to strengthening their managerial skills for environmental projects, development of concepts such as: assessment tools, planning, writing proposals, development of a Mid-Term and Long-Term analytical capacity, improve the capacity building of local communities, improve dialogue, enhance their financial capacities, , include group discussions mechanism to build self-confidence and leadership with special focus on women. Enhance their capacities to monitor and evaluate environmental problems and trends at Dibeen Reserve and inform planning and decision making processes. There is a need for participatory and collaboration of community and Reserve management efforts to enforce required environmental laws and policies in cooperation with relevant authorities. The project will give special consideration and focus for including women NGOs especially that Dibeen community is known with high percentage of educated but unemployed women.

Policy Impact
? Gathering these NGOs after empowering them with relevant stakeholders and Governmental authorities to be able to discuss the environmental needs of their community and how to sustain and develop them. Conducting policy analysis, participating in policy consultations and policy implementation. This will lead to build advocacy to change policies based on the reserve and community needs. ? Use communications and media to promote the project?s message and contribute to the environmental governance. ? completed lessons learned document case study focused on summarizing project activities, results, lessons learned to enhance environmental governance ? The project will develop a lessons learned document summarizing project activities, results, lessons learned to enhance environmental governance & will be distributed to the involved NGOs, relevant NGOs in the national and regional network, relevant authorities, and interested parties, posted on website.
Notable Community Participation
Community participation during project implementation through the initiation an alliance of the most active environmental civil society organizations after conducting a detailed needs assessment for environmental NGOs within Dibeen Community to assess their knowledge and conduct roundtable with the selected NGOs and discuss with them the project objectives, planned activities, issues threatening Dibeen reserve , how to contribute to solve them, and how to strengthen them to be part of environmental governance.
