The planning grant assisted the organisation to conduct consultations within their target beneficiary community ensuring equal participation of men and women and people living with disabilities. The women also used the opportunity to invite other NGO's to come and participate at their workshop sharing further information on how the women can improve and contribute to improving their own and the communities living standards whilst the mangrove rehabilitation project is in progress.
A full proposal was developed outlining process for the mangrove rehabilitation project to be implemented, its sustainability aspects, possibility of replication, collaboration with other similar projects funded by another donor organisation and offering alternative livelihood support to women members of the organisation to relieve some of the pressures currently being faced as a direct result fo the mangrove degradation and difficulties in food security, since the beneficiary community lives on the coast and is dependent on the marine environment as a protein source.
