Community action to reduce pressure on forests through sustainable land use & Local Biodiversity Management around the Protected areas in tribal belts of Seoni District
? People in the project area currently have limited livelihood opportunities and are therefore extracting fuel wood from forest for sale which is creating an extra pressure on the local forest, and due to this they are getting directly impacted, as they need to go deeper in the forest.
? Currently the uses of fuel wood practices, on provider and user side, are insufficient and they are unaware about improved practices.
? The communities are dependent on the local natural resources which are limited and degrading and require attention for its improvement.
? The project is located in Seoni District of Madhya Pradesh in which a total 7 villages will be the part of the project and of these 7 project villages, total 304 families are engaged in the business of fuel wood selling, with 27 households from Kamkasur, 55 households from Meharbori, 25 households from Nanhikar, 25 households from Mundiakheda, 80 households from Aamagad, 62 households from Aamgoav and 30 households from Barvah village.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
1 exposure visit & training to tailoring centre of urban area will be done. 3 exposure visits to related madagasker technique and bio fertilizer based crop cultivation method will be conducted. 1 exposure visit will be organized for member of JFM (van samiti) of village Nanhikanhar, Kamkasur, Mehrabodi Mundiakheda, Barvah, Aamgoav, Aamagad in responsibility of committee and increase the liabilities with conservation of forest, protection and cultivation. 30 awareness campaigns will be done on alternative new energy resources like Sarai Cooker, Urja Cackes, LPG, Biogas, Smoke less cook stoves, etc in rural as well as urban areas.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Gramsabha will be organized at the beginning to provide all the information related to the project. Various meetings will be conducted to share the progress of the project. 6 workshops (2 workshops yearly) will be conducted during the project related to keep the community at village level informed about the activities related to the projects. JFM committees annual meetings, NREGA planning exercise, district planning meeting will be organized to disseminate learning?s in the district.
