Sustainable land management for enhanced livelihoods within upper Ewaso Narok sub-catchment
The project aims at institutional strengthening of the Ewaso Narok Water River Users Association with other activities such as planting indigenous trees along the riparian forest reserve.
The main focus is to promote sustainable management of the water resources within Ewaso Narok sub catchment in collaboration with other stakeholders, Government ministries and department for enhanced livelihoods for the communities living within the sub catchment.
The principle objectives of this project are: to promote SLM for increased crop production, rehabilitation of Ewaso Narok sub catchment through reafforestration, to enhance water quantity and quality and to support diversification of livelihoods aimed at poverty reduction.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Capacity building activities including trading workshops for tree nursery management and local stove installers to enhance their skills on tree nursery establishment and management, and operation and maintenance of energy efficient stoves.
Notable Community Participation
Planting of 50,000 indigenous and fruit trees. Installation of 2000 Energy Saving Jikos in farmer's homes and tow selected learning institutions. Government Department and other stakeholders have become in inherent working principle of the Ewaso Narok WRUA to ensure participation.
