Sustainable soil management and livelihood improvement project
Like many VDCs in Baglung, Tamam VDC, lying western part of district, is observing erratic and unpredicted rain. Earlier, the farmers used to practice rain fed agriculture two times a year- summer (during monsoon rain) and winter (Nov-Dec). As climate pattern has become unpredicted, farmers could not rely on rain for agriculture. Besides, farmers have started using chemical fertilizers and pesticide for crop production. The choice of species such as maize in the slopping land has further triggered the soil erosion.
The project tries to promote organic farming and promote local seed through participatory technology selection (PTS) and participatory variety selection (PVS).
