Conducted training programs for eighty families to introduce them in to eco-agronomy. Aimed to acquire twenty people and to train and guide them as environmental guide task force. A workshop held on the to educate the team on fauna, flora, soil, and environmental law etc.Training of forest fire mitigation and protection of biodiversity is provided to school children of the area.

Group of 20 Fire fighters from the community were trained and empowered to actively contribute during a forest fire incident. Proved successful by the 73% average reduction in recorded forest fire incidents in the project location during last two years. According to this reduction of rate, it is possible to assume that the natural vegetation may recover in coming years since the fire fighters will continue to be active in the field after the project is over and will train more community members.. The monthly income of the beneficiaries has increased by an average of 24% through sustainable means of beekeeping, Fish-tail palm industry and pepper industry. Market ventures have been developed for these productions via supply to Super market chains, grocery shops and hotels & restaurants

Lanka Eco products guarantee Ltd. is currently purchasing the household products; bee honey harvest, Jaggery and kithul treacle An Indian company has agreed to purchase pepper and clove from the project beneficiaries and they will also donate required machinery to upgrade the pepper production, Department of export agriculture - Rathnapura district office has agreed to donate max limit of Rs five hundred thousand in cash to develop the infrastructure of the pepper processing centre A Series of discussions were held with a Netherlands company to trial out the export potential of the black and white pepper harvest

Project proposes a community based approach To Protection of Belihuloya Galagama forest reserve against forest fires with the participation of community members Selected community members are committed to minimizing the forest fire and to adopt alternative sources of income in order to protect the biodiversity around Galagama-Belihuloya reserve. At the moment around 35 of young community members are engaged in this process and this number is expected to increase up to 400 along with the initiation of school programs.

The same project activities will be replicated for ten identified peripheral areas subjected to forest fire in order to eradicate the threat.

Twenty six Kitul (Caryota) Palm cultivators have been identified and were equipped with knowledge and technology to produce Jaggery (non-centrifugal palm sugar). Bee-cultivation accessories were distributed among 50 beneficiaries in four villages in the focal area. Selected community members are facilitated with knowledge, funds and pepper saplings to cultivate pepper in land strips that identified as fire belts. The pepper harvest will be processed to make white pepper as it yield comparatively higher profits. Fruit plants are distributed among selected community members. The organization will buy back the products from the locals creating a market.
