Retrofitting oil furnaces with alternative pellet combustion system in schools and kindergartens in the Tirana municipality
This project will retrofit oil fired boilers used for heating in kindergartens and schools in the Tirana Municipality. Switching to biomass burners will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released in the atmosphere. The intervention is expected to bring significant saving to the municipality as well as improve the living conditions in the buildings by providing longer heating hours.

Policy Impact
This project will convert / retrofit boilers used in the Tirana municipality from oil to pellet. This is the first and only such project that is applied on the municipality level and it has great potential that will replicate in other municipalities.
