Production of Compost from biodegradable wastes in Bamyan Province
Production of Compost from biodegradable wastes in Bamyan Province
Bamyan is one of populated cities in Afghanistan and accommodates more people than its current capacity. The issue of waste accumulation is one of the big problems in the city. There is no mechanism in placed for the manangement of all type of waste. Some of the pollutants, for example the solid waste produced in the city have not been managed so far and have polluted the city to a great extent. The remaining unrecyclable wastes are collected by municipality and dumped in the landfill. The primary focus of the project is to recycle biodegradable waste into compost. The poroject will work with the community and municipality to present a model at Bamyan Province. This initiavtive will not only drecrease the waste, but will promote organic farming in the city. Cleaning the city from the waste and encouraging organic farming will be the main output of the project. A number of other value added benefits are also associated with the project.
