Alternative Energy Source for Heating in Bamyan
Alternative Energy Source for Heating in Bamyan
?Alternative Energy Source for Heating in Bamyan?, focuses on the introduction and distribution of innovative environmental friendly technology of solar energy systems to the rural community. The project will be implemented in Panjab District of Bamyan. The total population of Panjab is 67,000 (47% men and 53% female). The income from agriculture practices is very less and people are very poor. In Winter, due to heavy snow fall, the roads are closed. The winter is very cold and long, and it lost in about 6 months, so most of the people have no livelihood opportunity. Wood, bushes and plants found on mountains and dungs of livestock are used for heating. It is not only cutting, but uprooting is another big issues due to low awareness and lack of alternative energy source. Kerosene oil is also used for lightening. With the implementation of this project, the pressure on the forest resources and use of other fossil fuels will decrease. The campaign with schools, teachers and government and non-government officials will help in increasing the awareness on environmental issues. This project will be a good model for replication of solar energy for heating in the province and all over Afghanistan.
