PROMOTION OF BEEKEEPING ACTIVITIES IN IKUNGI DISTRICT FOR POVERTY REDUCTION AND ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION, SINGIDA.
Context:
The new district of Ikungi has great potential for beekeeping. The district is endowed with Miombo and Minangana forests, which provide a good source of pollen and production of honey. Furthermore, xerophytes vegetation that favors beekeeping development also grows in the district. This project intends to unlock this potential by building the capacity of local communities to adopt beekeeping activities for income generation. In addition, beekeeping will promote cross-pollination for major crops that are grown by local communities leading to higher yields.
About the Proponent:
Future Development Initiatives (Fu-DI) was registered as NGO on 17 April 2012. It is located at the Small township of Ikungi on Ihanja road.
