The project aims to recover Wodmej Islands indigenous vegetation that were lost during the recent 2013 drought. Saline intrusion in water lens have prevented local vegetations from producing food for the islanders leading to the high dependence of imported food. The project aims to replant acres of old growth food plants, earn income from selling of seedlings and produce as well as skilled youths aware of environmental issues.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Project aims to increase income generation through the selling of seedlings and vegetations. Project also aims to decrease reliance on imported food.
Notable Community Participation
The idea of the project began at the grassroots level driven by rising local awareness of environmental problems such as the 2013 drought. Meetings were held on Wodmej with CBO members, government officials, partners and community members to discuss work plan.
