Food Processing and Preservation
The primary focus of this project is to improve livelihood in local communities by strengthening the skills of community based farmers and women?s groups, to add value to their products, ensure self-reliance and sustainability where local food shortage is eminent to reduce pressure on the forest.

This aim shall be achieved through the following key objectives:
? To support localized food security and hygiene promotion through the training of women groups in three communities on food processing and preservation
? To develop improved local food production methods to ensure reduced pressure on the forest and cost-effective response to climate change in local communities
? To build the capacity of local farmers and women groups through purchase of cassava processing machine.
?
Some key activities are envisaged to ensure that the objectives indicated above are realized, and result in specific outcomes for adequately response to the impact of climate change. The 3 main outcomes (see also Table 1 below) that will emerge from this project include the following:
1. Working with community dwellers, especially women in the sustenance of peace through skills training, Agro Business Management, Agriculture (Food Processing and preservation)
2. Creating empowerment by introducing entrepreneurship through the development of skills training that would empower local farmers for self-sustaining economic livelihood
