Purchase of Cassava processing machine , warehouse construction and Capacity Building
There is acute shortage of cassava processing machines in Bopolu city and in fact Gbarpolu County as a whole. As a direct result of the 14 years of war, processing machines of all types were looted when farmers had to abandon their farms and homes. Now that peace is being restored and farmers have begun to resume farming activities, they continue experience post harvest losses; hence the need to undertake this worthwhile project should be encouraged. The specific objectives are:
a. Purchasing cassava processing equipment
b. Purchasing warehouse construction materials
c. Training
? The facilities will provide employment and source of income generation for members of the communities, it will enhanced food security for household and empower women farmers that are less fortunate through the production of large scale cassava production that will be used for their economic empowerment, and enable them to make economic decision among other things.

? The Twelve (12) months project will focus on purchasing of cassava processing equipment and the construction of storage facilities to meet the growing demand of the farming population in Gbarpolu and its surrounding towns and villages.

a. It shall contribute meanly to the economic activities by ensuring food security;
b. It shall address the low performance of cassava production;
c. The processing plant shall reduce the hardship on farmers who had to labor under the hard working condition to produce cassava at the same time they are to process the same commodity for consumption and marketing.


The Specific Objectives of this project will be to:
1. Provide and conduct massive and sustained education /sensitization campaigns in all the affected communities through the Conduct of person to person contact, person to people contact, focus group discussions to enhance their understanding of the protected species.
2. Monitor the Cestos River basin on the hunting activities by recording the illegal killing of the protected species
3. Engage the Cestos River basin communities into dialogue and actions geared toward the protected species in the Cestos River Basin including the pigmy hippopotamus
4. Promote alternative sources of income and livelihood for local hunters that are attached to conservation and protection for these species
These projects will employ adaptive, participatory and educational techniques to achieve its plans.
- Conduct quality and sustained awareness raising and educational materials within the communities along the Basin
- monitor the Cestos River banks on the hunting activities by recording the illegal killing of the protected species
- To engage the Cestos River basin communities into dialogue and actions geared toward the protected species in the Cestos River Basin including the pigmy hippopotamus

- To promote alternative sources of income and livelihoods that are attached to conservation and protection for local hunters

Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2013 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from September by the project team .
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Knowledge transfer and capacity building based on personal involvement of local people are at the heart of this project and hence dissemination is an integral aspect of what is planned.
