? 5000 kaduru (Nux vomica) trees were planted in a part of Madampawila Wild Life sanctuary and reduced the threat to biodiversity in the sanctuary.
? Banks of a canal flowing through the marshland were strengthened by plantation of 2500 bamboo plants (Bambusa vulgaris). This measure helps the conservation of the biodiversity and the bamboo wood will provide additional income for the community.
? Butterfly gardens with all necessary plants for feeding and reproduction of butterflies were established in 2 schools and butterfly conservation clubs were formed with the participation of school students.
? 43 traditional masks sets which were taken away from Sri Lanka during the Colonial period were reproduced following traditional methods which were practiced in this area.
? A traditional masks museum was established to display traditional masks, reproduced masks and modern style masks. The museum opened a new market place for the wooden masks and other ornamental products crafted by the community.
? A micro-credit scheme was formed for traditional mask craftsmen.in the area to uplift their business ventures.
