Students of Girl schools will included within the activity of establishing medicinal plant gardens. Other than that both genders will be equally addressed through the project

The project is not designed to provide sustainable livelihoods of the communities by way of financial support or other direct means. But the project activities would contribute for sustainable livelihoods indirectly by way of enhancing capacities of sectors which are responsible for protection of biodiversity and environment

The project is the formulation of a field guide for plants with photographs highlighting specific characters of species mainly to provide assistance in plant identification and the translation of the above field guide into English language. Reprinting 750 copies of the booklet titled ?Monumental Trees of Sri Lanka? which was published by the Ministry of Environment. This activity is the establishment of 5 medicinal plant gardens in five school premises using school children. It also includes creation of awareness among school children on the importance of identification and protection of medicinal plants.

This project does not have any activities where communities are directly participating. But they would indirectly be benefitted by the capacity building of sections of communities addressed by the project as they would be focused on the conservation of biodiversity and environment as a whole. Some project activities will be implemented with the direct participation of school children and teachers where their capacities would be enhanced.

This project will definitely enhance the knowledge on global environment of the participants and beneficiary sectors thereby promoting awareness on global environment.
