Participatory Monitoring for Knowledge Management Project
Knowledge management framework, proposed project bases, promotes systematic management of grantees and SGP?s knowledge and their associated processes of creating, gathering, organizing, diffusion and use in pursuit of organizational objectives. Enhanced reporting, favorable learning environment and development and use of PME tools are the ingredients of knowledge management framework on which this project is based.
Following points explain the justification of carrying out the project and the activities under it.
? The proposed project allows project participants to keep track of project activities, to determine whether project objectives are being achieved, and to make out whatever changes are necessary to improve project performance
? PME supports to demonstrate accountability and dynamics of the program and projects and track changes from baseline conditions to desired outcomes of what results were achieved and how and why they were or were not achieved. It helps to provide strategy and policy options to determine the project implementation.
? Knowledge management activities create a repository of data and other information aimed at assisting SGP and grantees in their work. It involves the project participants in measuring, recording, collecting, processing and communicating information to assist both project management personnel and group members in decision-making.
? Project progress reports if carefully reviewed and suggested could support to improve many things for the remaining project period such as in reviewing the issues and concerns of poor and marginalized.
? Proposed actions help to facilitate for the identification and resolution of problems, enhances project performance, ensures congruence with the project criteria, and provides the basis for technical and financial accountability. It helps to increase community ownership of the programme and contribute to identifying and disseminating lessons learned and best practices among the project participants. So far, project level PME activities are being carried out by GEF-SGP itself through minimal staff output. However, if we can improve the skills of grantees, they can carry out both project and community level PME with the active involvement of local people and community.
? The old grantees of the SGP still require the facilitation in participatory knowledge management (PKM) as well as other knowledge management activities. It is likely that new grantees may not know the PKM techniques and role of bridging them with SGP is required which Sahakarya will perform with this project.
