Enhancement of Climate Resilience Community by Reducing Land Degradation for Sustainable Livelihoods
As assessed by the base line in the areas, the topography and ecosystem of target landscape is fragile and prone due to flooding. Fallow land in hot spot areas i.e.cause surface run off and soil erosion ultimately lead to degradation of landscape. Harvested field crops in steep outwards terrace also led to significant loss of top soil. Only 30.93% out of 1,765 ha of cultivated land of project area (Sarikhet and Namtar VDCs) is irrigated. Recurrent floods and landslides affect the target land slopping. Effects of slash and burns agriculture and resulting deforestation, the loss of agricultural biodiversity and the sharp decline in agricultural productivity

Thus the project aimed to cultivate in slopping terrace by using slopping agriculture land technique, initiate organic farming, promote multi use of water and improve cook stove and initiate legume and cereal farming applying zero tillage.
