The primary aim of the planning grant is to conduct field assessment, get consultation from community and write proposal accordingly in order to meet practical needs in producing indigenous rice - extensive farming shrimp in response to extreme weather (drought and salinity), therefore to continue develop the project "futher model improvement and transfering of sustainable use of land, water and biodiversity for alkaline lands, with saline vs. fresh water dispute in coastal Mekong Delta water management, through restoration techniques of the Mot bui do rice variety and rice-shrimp cultivation techniques". Detail activities are (i) conducting survey to determine the technical solution on rice-shrimp cultivation in saline vs fresh water dispute , restoration technique of indigenous rice which can live in this water environment. (ii) Design the model of restoration technique of indigenous rice and rice-shrimp cultivation with extreme farming technique. (iii) Determine the location to put the model into pratice. Phuoc Long commune of Phuoc Long district, Bac Lieu province is the project location chosen (iv) Determine all stakeholders involved in the project and how relevant the project is with the locality. Chances of integration with other plans, project in the locality are also considered and mattered (v) Indicators for project evaluation are shown (vi) a workshop (1 day) to get consultation ideas from community, local authorities is organized (vii) Writing the full proposal.
