Rehabilitation and maintenance of irrigation scheme to promote community’s climate resilient livelihood
Project goal: To improve livelihood of 252 HHs at Salatrao village, Kampong Prieng commune, Sangke district, Battambang province, through rehabilitation of an irrigation scheme and support to diversifying the beneficiaries? livelihood to adapt to climate change.
Objective 1:
To ensure that 1,239 people from 252 HHs in Salatrao village, Kampong Prieng commune, have access to water all year round for both human and animals use through rehabilitation of an existing 1,630 m long sedimented canal for irrigating 235 ha land, and a community pond, 9,906m2 and thier sustainable managment by a well equipped managment committee.
Outcomes:
Outcome 1.1: a 1,630 m canal with capacity to irrigate 235 ha land and a 9,906 m2 community pond rehabilitated for use in agricultural production and domestic consumption by 252 HHs in Salatrao village, Kampong Prieng commune.
Output 1.1.1: A canal, 1,630 m long (Top width: 4m, bottom width: 2m, and depth: 1.5m) is rehabilitated
Output 1.1.2: A community pond 9,906 m2 rehabilitated (clearing of vegetation and removal of 0.4 m sediment from its bottom).
Output 1.1.3: A management committee of 9 members established and trained, with water use by-law adopted and awareness raised among members.
Objective 2
To improve livelihood of 60 HHs, of them 9 HHs and 37 HHs are from poor I and II category respectively, through application of knowledge acquired from training on household livestock and crop farming, and rice seed selection.

Outcomes:
Outcome 2.1: The 60 target households from Salatrao village have the necessary capacity and knowledge and access to credit to enable adoption of climate resilient livelihood activities.
Output 2.1.1: Models of small community groups established with 20 HHs practicing chicken raising, 15HHs ? fish farming, 15 HHs - home gardening, and 10 HHs rice seed selection.
Output 2.1.2: A village bank established to provide loans to members for raising fish, chicken, and vegetables and for rice seed selection in order to promote climate resilient livelihoods.
Output 2.1.3: Community members are more aware of and understood climate change and are able to share with members of their households and outsiders for improved farming practices.
