Promotion and Conservation of native variety of Paddy through Sustainable Agricultural practices with special emphasis on increasing the income of Grower’s Family
The project will replicate some of the learning and best practices adopted in the previous works during our earlier project period. Under this the implementing agency will try to invent the indigenous rice varieties in relation to farming practices and genetic purity would be promoted with a marketing back up. Small growers and conservator would be identified. The project will evolve strategy for concept of seed village and community seed bank, promotion of traditional agriculture practices, strengthening of farm- women and farmer?s organization ,facilitate for creation of local agro-activist , traditional water management and seed security ,policy influence for prevention of bio piracy and undertaking some on farm and off farm activities emphasis to increase the household income of small land holder.In order to sustain the project activities emphasis would be given on collective production, processing, grading and marketing of demand driven rice through SHG and farmer's organization. The project will emphasis on ecological sustainability (natural oil fertility,water conservation, minimization of pollution, biodiversity conservation, maintaining natural landscape and climate), economic sustainability (Export vs local orientation,debt,risk involvement, niche markets, and employment) and social sustainability (inclusiveness,farmer's participation,local acceptance,indigenous knowledge,gender,food security and participation).A standardized sustainable package of practices would be developed for the promotion of native rice.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Documentation of the project activities will be done with the help of videos and photographs. Stickers, pamphlets, book mark, folders, leaflets and posters will be prepared and used during awareness generation and training. Both electronic and print media will be used for mass communication.
Policy Impact
The NGO will establish links with resource institution like Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Indian Council on Agriculture Research, Central Rice Research Institutions, Agriculture university and other academic institutions for sharing of knowledge and other guidance. Government agencies, firm and development project distribute free seeds, agro chemicals and provide financial support to the farmers. Government policies will support corporate farming eg. A seed bill (now struck down) to restrict the exchange of seeds by farmers. The best document results will be send to Agriculture department, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and they will publish the same in various publications. To evolve policy support for protecting intellectual property right & patent to the indigenous preservers & managers of local agro biodiversity.
