Project Goal: Strengthening the community?s capacity for drought adaptation through improving water irrigation management of Prey Peay reservoir.

Project Objectives:
1) Increase accessibility to water irrigation for drought adaptation for 281 families with 193 ha of early wet season rice and 1,164 families with 669 ha of wet season rice in 8 target villages of Toul Ampil commune.
2) Improve rice production techniques of 160 target families by helping them to change their practical behavior from 1 to 2 times rice growth per year through promotion of the SRI techniques application.

Expected Outputs:

Output 1.1: 2,950 m of canal, 60 m long x 50 m width x 2.35 m depth of reservoir, 3 water gates and 40 m of model concrete canal will be rehabilitated/repaired/constructed for irrigation of early wet season rice of 281 families with 193 ha and wet season rice of 1,164 families with 669 ha.
Output 1.2: The existing Farmer Water User Group (FWUG) will be strengthened capacity to enable them to manage the irrigation system.
Output 2.1: 160 families will change their behavior in rice transplanting from once to twice times per year with application of SRI techniques and using short term and less water consuming of rice varieties.
Output 2.2: 8 saving groups (1 group in each target village) will be formed in order to save money for providing loan to group members for income generation activities.
