Water resources conservation of the small trans-boundary river Ugam by means of the alternative livelihoods development in the area
Unemployment in Ugam village is leading locals to engage with livestock and uncontrolled forest logging as means of livelihood. But this leads to overgrazing problems (degradation, slope erosion, etc) due to the lack of pastures, especially hard on bank of the river, as there are no organized watering ponds. Uncontrolled forest logging results in riverbed damage and water catchment worsening. All of it might have bad consequence in case of emergencies.
Project aim is to conserve water catchment area of small trans-boundary river Ugam by means of the alternative livelihoods development in the area. This should allow conserving water quality in the ecosystem and support of local population, using this water.
