Green bhoomi to control soil erosion and conserve land degradation due to seasonal flood in the proposed project villages with the help of bamboo plantation.
The Project aims at controlling soil erosion and conserving land degradation due to seasonal flood in the proposed project villages with the help of bamboo plantation. The project proposes to plant 60,000 Bamboo plants with 200 farmers in approximately 100 acres in 5 project villages in 3 years Bamboo is ideal to help control soil erosion for the reason that it has a net like root system that creates an effective mechanism for watershed protection.Besides this, it will also be a source of livelihood for the farmers to sell bamboo or its products. The project key activities include promoting women based community institutions along with sourcing and plantation of quality bamboo plants and creation of community based bamboo extension workers for long term maintenance of bamboo plantation. It addresses the issue of climate change, land degradation and social forestry besides capacity building of 200 women members in institution development and running village organizations.
