Community enhancement through Local Biodiversity Conservation and land based actions in 25 villages of Haladi and Lakhana Gram Panchayats of Muribahal block of Balangir District, Odisha, India
The idea of this project is to approach poverty alleviation and agricultural development communities by putting income-generating plans into the hands of the rural poor farmers. The poor farmers of India should be considered as a viable market and they must be provided with productivity enhancing and income generating tools at an affordable price. The scheme is to explore methodology to ensure sustainable ?win-win? relationships. The accent is on linking people with the authorities in order to fulfill the basic needs of the villages, organizing farmers / rural people and creating awareness so that they can avail of the govt. schemes. The various approaches to poverty alleviation have been largely unsuccessful for various reasons, which are widely documented. A poor rural economic model has also led to huge costs for attempts towards rural development and sustainability still remains a distant goal. The impact is nowhere keeping pace with need. Yet business opportunities await to address the underlying needs in the rural areas.
This proposal is mostly focused to provide business mode of orientation to the poor and marginal farmers of the Haladi and Lakhana Gram Panchyats of Muribahal block of Balangir district. In the process of this project implementation, 25 Jaiba Bibidhata Parichalana Committee involving farmers from 25 villages will be established and enabled in their village level group trades. Besides 30 Women SHGs across 25 villages will also be reorganized and oriented in their respective group trades.
