Improvement of Hunting Farms Management as the Basis of Biodiversity Conservation
Project aim: strengthen capacity of hunting farms on biodiversity conservation including red list species and sustainable management of fauna on territories of hunting farms of Kazakhstan via introduction of modern methods of monitoring and management.
Idea of the project is to demonstrate the modern approaches of management plans and fauna monitoring on the example of 5 hunting farms in different types of landscape and different type of management. This will allow establishing sustainable management on the pilot farms, conserving red listed species and disseminating that experience among other hunting farms. For experience dissemination on the base of 5 pilot farms the training center for gamekeepers and game managers will be established. Using GIS technologies will be done typology of hunting farms, zoning, established modern scheme of monitoring with registration routs, introduction of GPS, training of gamekeepers and hunting farms workers, identification of farms capacity, refinement of management plans, use of biodiversity database and country fauna cadastre.
