Strengthening Capacity of Semau Community For Better Environment in Semau Island
GOAL
Strengthening of community capacity to improvement the environment quality in landscape and seascape
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 : Increasing the local organization capacity and the actor that supporting the community autonomy
Indikator : 1. Existing 5 the mangrove managing group in 5 villages
2. Existing 5 the sea-grass managing group in 5 villages
3. Existing 5 conserving the land degradation
Activities : 1. The assessment of the actor determination that involved in mangrove, sea-grass, and land degradation
2. The Workshop for the making of vision in community group
3. Conducting the facilitation in each community in 5 villages.
Objective 2 : The environmental conserving in seascape and landscape in 5 villages.
Indicators : 1. Creating one model of land degradation management in 5 villages
2. Conservation of land degradation in landscape around 1 ha and seascape around 5 ha in every villages
3. Existing 3 mangrove refined products in five villages
4. Existing the one agreement & regulation about managing the seascape that conducted by community
5. Existing the one agreement or regulation about landscape management that conducted by community include the forbidden forest (Hutan Marga).
Activities : 1. Conducting 5 times planting workshop and cultivation the refined mangrove product in every villages
2. Environmental Management workshop & land and water conservation & community management training
3. Creating the demonstration plots of land in each village as a pilot. It will be in the field or in the garden area of 5 ha communities through sustainable farming systems approach ( agroforestry models ) to develop a multipurpose plant species that provide ecological and economic impacts .
4. Perform planting plants that are able to live without much water as lamtoro and gamal and cashew in the damaged areas in the village
5. Replanting cleared for plantations with plants capable of producing water as lamtoro and gamal - tree lamtoro 1000 and 1000 as well as 500 - gamal trees cashew trees in the community garden area of 2 ha.
6. Planting mangrove 50,000 saplings in 25 ha of coastal land in five villages (each village as much as 5 ha were planted as saplings with 10.000/ village).
7. Creating mangrove nursery garden at least 2 seeds. The goal as a seed source to answer the need for the cultivation of mangrove seedlings in and the surrounding villages village replication will be next.
8. Conduct community meetings for drafting rules / agreement on replanting cleared land as plantations.
9. Conducting community meetings for the preparation of forest management rules clan.
10. Conduct community meetings with district level policy makers on a stretch of coastal management rules.
11. Conduct community meetings with policy makers at the village level, including engaging in musrembangdes to agree on the village budget and related Perdes the critical land conservation and coastal / marine, including the stretch of land.

Objective 3 : The management of cultivation and conservation of sea-grass
Indicators : 1. The management model and conserving the sea grass
2. Creating minimum 2 sea grass refine products in every villages
3. Creating the marketing networks of the sea grass
4. The existing of sea grass conservation agreement
Activities : 1. The Creating of sea grass group management in every villages
2. Conducting the sea grass cultivation in every villages
3. The developing refine d product of sea grass in every villages and supporting of facilitation for sea grass tool processing to improve the economic income to target community
4. Training for Trainer for sea grass cultivation
5. The Marketing workshop for sea grass and composing the business plan in district level
6. The community meeting for discussion about the cultivation development in village level and district level that conducted in every week for village level and in three monthly for district level
7. Community meeting that discussion about sea grass management (integrated in the meeting above)
Objective 3 : Promoting management model of landscape and seascape in Semau Island
Indicators : 1. The Completion a book that contain the photo about the managing model in landscape and seascape.
2. Community economic creative through sea grass cultivation and product development of mangrove
Activities : 1. conducting the community meeting in every villages for book drafting
2. conducting the community meeting to confirm the content of book that participation drafting
3. conducting the community meeting in the district level and regency
EXPECTED OUTPUTS
1. Amount of vegetation land in the village is getting better target and critical areas on the mainland on the wane.
2. Mangrove forests in the coastal regions increasingly well-maintained and sustainable.
3. An increase in people's income through the management and utilization of natural resources potential of environmentally friendly.
4. Society began to realize the importance of environmental sustainability to the increase in the household economy.

Participants and/or Project Beneficiaries
Direct : A total of 50 persons per village, consisting of 30 men - 20 men and women so that the total direct beneficiaries to 5 villages as many as 250 people
Indirect : Huilelot village of 180 souls KK = 798 (L = 428 P = 370 people). Bokonusan many as 304 village households = 1,060 inhabitants (L = 549 P = 511 people), the village of 387 families Uitiuhanak 1,517 souls (L = 769 P = 748 the person); Akle village of 230 fa as 855 (L = 445 P = 410); and as many as 164 families Naikean village with as many as 651 people (L = 329 P = 322 people)

Project Characteristics and Results
Policy Influence
1. Approach and coordination with key figures in the village and sub-district levels related to the implementation of this program, which is the district head Semau and South Semau charge of 5 villages program targets including 5 also concerned that rural village head Naikean, akle, Uitiuhana, Bokonusan and Huilelot . The point is to inform program implementation plan with the community and requested support to key figures there. The coordination of the activities received a positive response and is ready to support the smooth implementation of the activities in the respective villages. Their support is evidenced by their involvement (especially kepala2 village) in facilitating meetings with the community during the training activities at the group level.
2. Assessment and determination of these actors associated with the activities of the group to be involved in the program at the field level, such as the head of the village, the village secretary and key figures in the village and district level that can play a role in supporting the implementation of the program at the field level.
