Zabana Community-Mangrove Management, Conservation and Ecotourism
The project is aimed at preserving the intact mangrove vegetation in the Kia region, Isabel Province that has been exploited for many generations. It plans to compile local ecological knowledge of the region, with particular focus on a mangrove survey identifying the resources that communities within the area have been dependent on for generations. In brief, the project is looking at addressing key main areas.
1. Sustainable natural mangrove forest management conservation and protection of eco systems
2. Reduce rural poverty and social injustice in the communities
3. Developing sustainable income generating enterprises in rural areas to improve livelihood of rural communities
