Rain-water Harvest and Rangeland Improvement in Rokeeb, Qalancia, Socotra, Yemen
Rokeeb zone (including Roakeeb (plateau) and Neit (coastal) is the mountain slope overlooking the interior plain s and the coastal area above Shueb and Neit. The absence of direct road from Shueb or Mayha made it isolation and only reach by Sea. The Plateau (Rokeeb) can be reach from Darakbou. Communities are mainly herders and fishermen based in Neit. The latter is a protected area hosting high biodiversity mangroves and sandy beaches.
The project aim is to assist local communities of rain-water Harvest for water provision for humans and animals. The project will benefit 99 families with total population of 620 inhabitants and a total water harvest of 2845 cubic meters. Project will raise awareness among livestock herders of the importance of Rangeland management for vegetation cover sustainability and biodiversity conservation.

At least ten young people would acquire new skills in building rain-water harvest.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Availability of water for human and livestock is detrimental for community livelihood. It helps providing water for animal to drink and for families sanitation. Local communities classified rain-water harvest project in high demand due to its linkage to livelihood.
