Promotion of standardized use of solar thermal energy collectors for heating of sanitary water in public buildings
Promotion of standardized use of solar thermal energy collectors for heating of sanitary water in public buildings
Albania has a high potential for using the solar energy with many areas receiving from
1,185 kWh/m2 /year to 1,700 kWh/m2. Especially the western and south western parts receiving considerable radiation up to 2,200 kWh/m2 / year. The average energy radiation during the winter months (November ? March) is 380 kWh/m2 / year. In 2011 Albania had 0.023 m2 panels per person compared to Greece and Israel that have respectively 0.3 ? 0.3 ? 0.5 m2 per person.
The project will install centralized solar water heaters for 2 public buildings (kindergartens) in the city of Elbasan. The project will coordinate the activities with the GEF project ?Country Program of Albania under the Global Solar Water Heating Market Transformation and Strengthening Initiative?.
