The beneficiaries were trained on organic farming, soil conservation, integrated pest management and composting. Therefore it is expected that they will engage in organic farming, minor cash crop production and Kitul based productions such as treacle and jaggery. Due to the very high demand for these products the economic development of the beneficiaries is ensured. The beneficiaries will receive a better price for their Kitul based products as the production and marketing is done according to the standards. The NGO directly involves to maintain the optimum quality of the products. As a result, proper coordination of the marketers and the producers is expected even after the project period. The community has been organized in to CBOs. Capacity development programmes have been conducted for the CBO members. The unity of the members and continuous interaction with the NGO is expected through these programmes. The trees planted on the river banks would become conducive habitats for the point endemic fish species Systomus asoka while the trees planted near the identified fish habitats would provide favourable breeding conditions.
