Integration of Gender Focus into Environmental Governance Sector in Belarus
The primary objective of the project is to strengthen inclusiveness of environmental policies by mainstreaming gender issues into relevant programmes and projects (climate changes, sustainable development, energy efficiency, etc.). The specific objectives are the following:
- to study international standards and best regional practices in applying gender approach in environmental sector;
- to conduct gender audit of the current and planned environmental programmes/projects in Belarus;
- to strengthen capacities/competence of Belarus NGOs and state stakeholders in integration gender dimension into policy and programme activity.
The project's goals are fully aligned with the focus of the EU-NGOs Project to promote sustainable development and improved environmental management in the neighboring regions of the European Region through more effective civil society participation in environmental governance. As a result of the project, NGOs and state stakeholders will obtain capacities of gender mainstreaming and increase their ability to assess and address the needs of their target groups. Skills on incorporation of gender issues would lead to better policy formulation and ensure environmental governance sector become inclusive for women and men and sensitive towards gender inequality
