FSM: U Seaside Clean-up and Environmental Protection Project
FSM: U Seaside Clean-up and Environmental Protection Project
The expected impact of the project will result in the enhanced image of U as an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable and friendly place, where people will want to visit, work, and live.
A balance between a clean environment and a developing economy mean
protecting the source of livelihood of the people; that is, the mangrove forest and coastal
water to ensure marine lives such as fish, clams, mangrove crabs, seaweed and corals have a clean environment in which to live and grow.
To combat the effect of climate change and promote biodiversity, UOW will be planting Pandanus trees along the coastline in Nan U to help mitigate erosion and make it more resilient to tidal wave actions. Plumeria trees will also be planted along the main road in U to enhance the beauty of U in general and adds to its biodiversity.
