Climate Change Education and Biodiversity Assessment – Torricelli Mountain Range PNG
This National NGO is based in Lumi, West Sepik Province and has been doing extensive work in the Toricelli mountain range monitoring and promoting the conservation of the Tree Kangaroo habitat and surrounding primary tropical rainforest towards establishing a large conservation area. Given their extensive experience with delaying with donor funding, agreement was reached for the organisation to prepare and submit a full proposal for a strategic grant consistent with strategic grant guidance notes. Project titled Climate Change education and biodiversity assessment ? Toricelli Mountain Range PNG is awarded a strategic grant of US$125,075.00 under the GEF STAR allocation. This project will cover at least 50 villages with a total beneficiary population of 12,000 while project site will cover 200,000 hectares of mid-montane and lowland tropical rainforest in the Torricelli Mountain Range.
