The considered project location is a resettlement area, in which biodiversity and other environmental factors were decade over a period of 30 years. The project will serve as a model which initiated restoring biodiversity factors via sustainable livelihood enhancement and conserving available water resources.

The primary objectives of the project are the promotion of organic home gardens among the community of Maravanpulo Grama Niladari Division which will improve the ecosystem through measures of climate change and livelihood development of local communities

The project aims to restore the traditional sustainable water retention system practiced on surrounding pools over the years of ancient times before the civil war of the country. That built capacity will help the locality to restore water throughout the dry season.
