Project sustainability

Since the beneficiaries are financially benefited from new intervention of the project bean cultivation using glicedia poles and Organic home gardening will continue . Village vigilant group will continue the biodiversity protection of the forest and they will be motivated through continuous Support of SCDF.

Policy Impact

The project introduce alternative agricultural support (cultivated Gliricidia sticks, for been farming) to the community to minimize the usage of forest timber. This practice can be replicated to similar situation in the country

Project Results

1. A total extent of 830 Ha of forest cover in which numerous bio-diversity resources have been conserved. In this respect a total of 10 floral species used to extract timber poles for bean cultivation have been protected and conserved directly.
2. Household income of 140 families increased by 35%
3. Gliricidea is cultivated in home gardens to get poles for bean and tomato cultivation. This will fertilize the soil as well.
4. NGO also had established revolving funds within these societies.
