Capacity building activities include field research with medicinal plants, documented studies, courses on solidary economy, management of gardens, courses that focus on community business administration, courses on execution of finacial actions for commerce and marketing course.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

The project will contribute to the generation of income and work for women, health and towards the equality in gender roles, bringing fourth the empowerment of women, strengthening agroecology and participative actions in the communities.

Gender Focus

The project will include local families where great majority of the participants are women.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

These activities serve as an example for the entire local population which sees results in the production and information dissemination among the local communities.

Notable Community Participation

Two groups will be benefited directly, one from the gender sector and one from the MST south of Minas health sector, representing 65 families . The colective Women of The Earth is made up of 50 women belonging to 2 settlements (Nova Conquista e Primeiro do Sul) and other 10 settlements in the municipality od Campo do Meio. Another group Olhos d´Água with 15 women from the Santo Dias settlement. The plant group is made up of 23 women and 4 men representing 27 families.

Project Results

02 groups of women from 02 Settlements involved - PA New Conquest II and PA Santos Dias.
35 families involved - 40 women (10 young, 3 elderly and 28 adults).
60 women trained in 6 different courses, involving solidarity economy themes; cooperativism, economic viability and phytotherapeutic price formation; identification and cultivation techniques of medicinal plants. These processes accounted for around 80 hours of training.
2 planted gardens, which served as the basis for the weekly groupings of the women's group.
5,000m² of vegetable gardens with intensive agroecological management with medicinal plants and green manure, with the handling of 70 species.
In 2018 the commercialization of 1,000 pots of ointment, 500 of massage gel, 500 bottles of syrup, 700 soaps, 400 scales feet and 200 florals, totaling a gross turnover of the group of R $ 20 thousand, of these at least R $ 10 thousand were distributed among the women of the group. The group maintains a cash register that is used to invest in production and also in the training processes of women outside the settlement.
Folder and primer produced for dissemination and use in courses.
Improvement in the social organization of the two groups of women.
