- The aims to promote biodiversity conservation, sustainable land management and climate change resilience among the communities living in Kiang West District and those of neighbouring villages in Senegal.

- A major activity of the project is the establishment of an Education Centre within a wildlife sanctuary in the village of Dumbutu.

- To kick start project activities, an inception workshop was held on December 1, 2014 and attended by 17 village heads. At the workshop, the project goal and objectives were discussed as well as the need for partnerships among the villages in both The Gambia and Senegal to conserve biodiversity.

-On December 2, 2014, The Board of Directors Committee for the project was launched. This body would provide leadership and support for the implementation of the project.

- Construction of the Education centre started on November 14, 2014 with the award of the contract to a local contractor. The centre is now at the roofing stage and will be completed before the end of August 2015. The centre will house a library, conference rooms and a main hall for the organisation's activities which will include capacity building training programme, community sensitization activities and environmental education for the communities including schools.

The drilling of a borehole also started about the same time and the nursery and the entire complex has been fenced thus providing security to the facility. Two overhead water tanks with a combined capacity of 4, 000 litres have been installed thus providing water for the nursery and the centre.

- About 10, 000 seedlings of various local tree species have been raised in the nursery and planted in the designated climate community reserves.

- Biocsouts events have been organised including bird watching trips, community campfires, polypot filling and nursery management training, santuary patrols and community campaigns againt hunting in the santuary and inter-village football competitions between bioscouts to foster unity and collaboration.
