“Mangrove Rehabilitation and Regeneration Project to Mitigate Climate Change Hazards on Communities of Jokadou District”.
This project will contribute to reducing effects of climate change in the region through planting and managing mangrove seedlings/trees in the reverie wetland zones of three communities in Jokadou District. The project will lead to improved and sustainable eco-system in the three communities of Jokadou District, North Bank Region.
Specific Objectives:
? To restore the lost mangrove habitat of the three communities resulting from effects of drought and salt intrusion into the swamp/estuaries;
? To prevent wind erosion from burying local salt extraction pits that serve as source of income for rural women farmers;
? To improve and protect the breeding habitats for aquatic lives (fish, snail, oyster, crocodiles, etc);
? To train youths in mangrove regeneration/restoration techniques.
