- 4 villages (Niani Sukuta, Niani kayai, Kuntaur (Central River Region-North) and Banjulnding (West Coast Region) have been selected for the implementation of this project which aims to build local capacities for sustainable livelihoods improvement by promoting apiculture in rural areas.The project will be implemented against a background of promoting biodiversity conservation for food security and reducing poverty among households.

- Consultative meetings with members of the 4 beneficiary groups were conducted which included meetings with registered b keepers in the areas. the meetings dealt with the goal and objective of the project, its outcomes and outputs, the planned activities and the roles and responsibilities of the different actors.

- 160 Kenyan Top Bar bee hives were constructed and supplied to all 4 villages to be located in their respective apiary sites. All 4 villages have identified suitable sites for the apiaries and have cleared the sites.

- Modest support was provided in rehabilitation of the grantees head office in Banjulnding which included the purchasing of processing machines to process the honey and its by products.

- Bee suits, gloves, smokers and other sets of tools were provided to the 4 beneficiary villages.

- Tree seedlings were purchase and provided to the 4 groups in readiness for transplanting at their apiriaries to improve on the availability of nectar to boost honey production.
