The Introduction of Aquaponics and Organic Farming Systems for the Sustainable Production of Fish and Plant Produce at the Boys Training Centre in Massade, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia
This project will work with young boys who have contravened the laws of Saint Lucia and sent to the only Boys Training Facility in Saint Lucia instead of the Bordelais Correctional Facility. The project will engage these young men, frequently characterized by society as delinquents, in a process to build self-esteem, learn about micro-enterprise and develop and manage an agricultural project which espouses and uses organic methods of agriculture. The project at this planning stage will use meetings and workshops to engage stakeholders and beneficiaries in a project planning process. It is expected that by the end of the planning process a Full Grant Project Proposal will be prepared for project implementation and the project will be integrated as a programme into the overall boys training and development curriculum.
