“Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) by improving the efficiency of the struggling with forest fires”
Project goal - technical capacity building in the Republic of Belarus for the environmentally safe fire extinguishing and liquidation of fires consequences.
Project tasks:
1. Purchasing and testing on the basis of GLHU "Volozhin forestry" of modern mobile systems for fighting forest fires.
2. Practical testing of the use of mobile technology systems to struggle with forest fires on the territory of GLHU "Volozhin forestry".
3. Evaluation and presentation of the results of the use of mobile systems in the GLHU "Volozhin forestry" at the national round table on the issue of fighting and eliminating the consequences of forest fires.
4. Media information campaign on prevention of forest fires causes and promotion of project results.


Expected long term results:

1. Promotion of the Republic of Belarus in the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and land degradation.
2. Strengthening technical and institutional capacity of Forestry in the rapid and effective fight and mitigation of forest fires.
Expected long term results:

3. Minimizing the damage caused during the liquidation of forest fire to the environment.
4. Reducing caused by chemicals used in fighting forest fires risk of harm to human health and the environment.
5. Dissemination of experience on use of mobile fire-extinguishing systems in other districts of the country.
6. Informing the public, interested organizations and enterprises on results of the project, as well as on the prevention of causes of and opportunities of suppression and mitigation of forest fires in the Republic of Belarus.
