Promoting sustainable use of natural resource management by arresting land degradation, biodiversity conservation in 10 villages of the VPTGs of Hazaribag district.
The project aims to work in direction of curbing land degradation and building capacity of community on different fronts for a better living.
Project Objectives:
1. To improve the food security of small, marginal & landless farmers including women headed families through land development, farm bunding and other capacity building training.
2. Increased integrated farming activity including agricultural and horticultural inputs for recovery of livelihood systems of most vulnerable landed families in drought hit villages.
3. Construction of wells under MNREGA.
4. Construction of 500 smokeless cook stoves.
5. Rejuvenation of 10 defunct water structures. (through MNREGA)
6. Providing paddle pump to widow and women headed family for irrigation.
Project Activities:
1. Formation of village development committee (VDC) and village forest protection committee (FPC).
2. Formation of SHGs.
3. Formation of BMCs.
Project Outcomes:
1. Land improvement for 150 farm families for optimum water utilization.
2. Asset creation in the land of tribal and deprived community members through MNREGA.
3. Most scientific agro-horticultural input package for 300 families based on agro- climatic conditions.
4. Facilitating groups to avail the provisions of NRLM for initiating livelihood activities on their own.
5. Empowered community to form groups and bargain collectively for better right in decision making and watershed development.
6. Capacity building of the government/ other institutions on integrated farming system on watershed basis for sustainable development.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
2 days training will be given to 25 farmers on promoting organic farming. 30 SHGs will be trained on leadership quality and group management. Exposure visits will be organized to motivate farmers to adopt mechanized farming. Training will be given to village women on the use of smoke less energy efficient cook stoves. Awareness generation programs will be done for the communities to government and impact of convergence on over all development.
