A low cost, locally adaptable sustainble approach to Agri-Bio Waste Management for organic agriculture
A low cost, locally adaptable sustainble approach to Agri-Bio Waste Management for organic agriculture
The project objective of the project is to develop socially- culturally- contextually- technically- economically suitable and self- sustainable agri bio waste disposal system in 40 revenue villages of Barabanki district, which not only helps 8000 villagers in effective removal of 16000 tons of waste but also generate employment for 45 unskilled workforce. It will also help in increase of yield by 20-30 % per acre.
1. Agri bio waste management is effective in reducing the burden of safe disposal and proper treatment of biodegradable waste.
2. It also has ability to convert organic waste into organic manure containing valuable resources useful for plant nutrients and organic matter, which are essential for maintaining soil productivity.
3. It also promotes microbial activities activities in the soil.
4. Organic manure can be procured at the field itself and will be used for the next crop.
5. Using organic manure, the produce from the Agri Bio Waste at the farmers 'fields would reduce the cost of agriculture'. it supports water percolation, ground water recharge and soil health thus wising overall productive strength of the land.
6. It will reduce subsidy burden by Rs. 2.17 crore and Rs. 4.4 crore after 1st and 2nd year of project period of Govt, of India only for cultivated land of 40 villages of Nindura Block.
7. Adopting agri bio waste management will approximately reduce CO2 emission by 36322 kg through Drum Decomposition and 27336 kg through normal decomposition.
Project Activities:
1. Use Audio Visual aids through Mobile van for the awareness and sensitization among farmers. Use various IEC materials for promotion of Agri Bio Waste Management technique.
2. Appointment of a One Project Coordinator and 4 field coordinator on every cluster of 10 selected villages.
3. Selection of one farmer as local facilitator/ community based volunteer who will work as the key person between NGO and community.
4. Maintain database regarding consumption of chemical fertilizer, production of organic manure, yield growth etc.
