Conservation and Management of NTFP for sustainable livelihood through Ecosystem Approach
The main aim of the project is "Conservation and Management of NTFP for sustainable livelihood through Ecosystem approach".
Project Objectives:
1. Formation and straitening of the honey/gum collectors institutions in the project area.
2. Capacitate these institutions for adoption on new technologies.
3. Initiation of people centric income generation activities focusing on honey and gum.
4. Strengthening community representatives to improve coordination with government for greater public investments to improve the management of common natural resources and to strengthen the access to livelihood schemes.
Project Activities:
1. Formation and strengthening of honey and gum collectors group.
2. Capacity building of honey collector groups- 2 capacity building of community representatives on forest based planning and monitoring to improve livelihood (resource mapping, conservation, regeneration, plantation and overall forest management).
3. Exposure visits to Madhu Mitra, Gum Processing Unit, KOVEL Foundation.
4. Capacity Building on honey processing unit and gum processing unit.
5. Capacity building of staff on FRA & BDA and generating NTFP based entrepreneurship and mobilizing marginalized community to enhance access and control over natural resources to improve livelihoods.
6. To develop and set up honey processing unit (collection, purification, packing & marketing) & gum, processing unit (packaging, gradation and marketing) for generating income for honey and gum harvesters in the area.
Project Outputs:
1. Formation of honey and Gum collector's institutions.
2. Adoption of the sustainable collection practices.
3. Developed model gum unit and gradation, processing and marketing of 150 Qtl honey per year and replication of model.
4. Increased participation of women in overall income generation activity.
5. Capacity build-up of entrepreneurs and SHG members on developing business plan on gum based entrepreneurship.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
2 capacity building workshops will be conducted on forest based planning and monitoring to improve livelihood. Workshops will be organized for selected leaders on proper gum and honey harvesting, gradation, processing and packaging. Quarterly review and planning meeting of staff will be conducted with the community members.
Policy Impact
Forest department, Agriculture department, Environment department and other related concern will be jointly involved in beekeeping and collection of honey, it?s processing and marketing. Coordination will be maintained with government line departments and beneficiaries at block level. The officials from various government departments shall actively participate in the consultation. Community representatives will be strengthened to improve coordination with government for greater public investments to improve the management of common natural resources and to strengthen the access to livelihood schemes. During the implementation of the project technical support will be taken from various other Individual/Organization (CSV- Center for science for villages, Wardha, Kovel foundation Vizak and madhu mitra for Warda). The model will be replicated among other nearby villages as in other potential areas.
