A pilot project for the protection of running water and Mediterranean Sea water from waste frying oil
A pilot project for the protection of running water and Mediterranean Sea water from waste frying oil
It is a pilot project for collecting and recycling frying oil used by citizens of Sin el Fil, a densely populated city (85 680 inhabitants, 11121 family or housing units and 30 restaurants) which dump every year about 42.5 tons of frying oils within waste water network.
An awareness campaign about the danger of frying oils and the benefits of recycling this type of waste on environment will encourage citizens to participate in the collection of the frying oil. This campaign will be implemented by a specialized team commissioned by the municipality of Sin el Fil, which is partner in this project. This project will be expanded to reach nearby cities as Furn el Chebbak (60,000 inhabitants) and Hazmiyeh (55,000 inhabitants) so that the quantity of oil collected will reimburse the cost of collecting and cost of plant of recycling.
This project will protect the nature as it will prevent the pollution of the running water and sea water of Mediterranean.
