Revive the cultivation of figs and cactus in Jabal Amel
This project aims for the developing of the cultivation of figs and cactus by launching a forestation campaign in corporation with the municipalities, the union of municipalities of Jabal Amel, NGOs and the ministry of Agriculture. It will start by planting figs and cactus with 20 farmers which will be selected in cooperation with the municipalities to be a model for others. Farmers will be subject to training and technical follow-up by engineers of the project (5 workshops). A nursery with a production capacity of 10,000 seedlings per year will be set up in corporation with the union of municipalities of Jabal Amel, and seedlings will be sold to farmers in good prices.
This quantity of plants produced is enough for 250 acres per year (meansmore than 1,000 acres in five years). Jihad el Bina Association and the Ministry of Agriculture will provide technical supervision in the region.
This project will enhance the environmental situation in the region and provide job opportunities to the citizens.
